Many visits with similar incompetence of Doctors, but caring Nurses.Went there a few years ago after chest pain, and Triage Nurse quickly got me inside and was efficient like all nurses from then on.First doctor was trying to be funny (in front of female interns) at my expense. Put him in his place with a joke about "us" physicists trumping "them" doctors.The heart specialists tried to schedule me for Angioplasty without not only talking to me but also without knowing if there were any heart damage at all. Told her off as well, and it turned out angioplasty would have been a life-long mistake! Considering that, at my insistence, the MRI and CAT showed no blockage or even minor damage to the heart. How convenient that the Heart Specialist's husband performs just about all Angioplasties!!More recently went there with sever pain on my side, and they did many tests, except an Xray (which was the only test they should have done).They sent me home saying "patients sometimes have pain for no reason"! Went back a day later, at 3am, with level 8-9 pain and barely able to walk without having to stop to ease the pain.Again, they did the same test where only Xray would have shown a complete blockage of my intestine. To make matters worse, these incompetent doctors allowed food to be given to me both times thus compounding the blockage.Again was sent home saying sometimes pain has no physical reason.At home, after brainstorming with wife, we deduced it must've been blockage and using extremely hot bath and strong laxatives fixed the issue in few hours.Coffs Harbor Health Campus' response to my written complaint was that "I misunderstood my pain". And I received no further reply when I used adequate amounts of colorful language in my response!!
Perhaps the staff didnt want to be at work on Sunday of the long weekend? Horrible admin staff who completely lacked empathy and a triage nurse who quite obviously needs retraining. Whilst we waited with a hysterical baby for over 3 hours, people came and went getting scripts for things that were clearly not emergencies and clearances to go surfing! A distressed baby is not of high importance and made the bottom of the list. Very disappointing.
A huge thankyou to all the ambulance officers(awesome response time btw), doctors, nurses and any attending staff that tended to my father who was brought in around 5am on christmas morning.
Wonderful staff, patient and caring, meet your needs, communicate with patients re needs and progress and go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed
